GUYS,

For me the first accesory was the top box and panniers. Now my bike really is ready for some long distance touring.

Plus, the small St Andrews' Saltire scottish flag on my windscreen.

Are you based in Aberdeen? We will have to get a ride sorted out soon. I cant see us having much of a sumeer so must make the most of it.

First accessory was panniers, couldn't afford the ones I wanted so I made them instead!

Most important accessory ....... iPhone(!)
With google maps and the ability to locate yourself we found it a god send when looking for a petrol station in the middle of nowhere!

I have taken the pillion seat off my GS and fitted one of the plates its great for packing

The Varadero seat has two foam bits, after writing about not having the time I started to rip my second seat apart.
Being able to swop between passenger seat or rack wont be possible.
The seat base would need sealing and a rain channel fitting so I dont reckon its worth the hassle. I'm just going to recover the knackered seat with some vinyl and hide my bodge under a dead animal skin

As i've recently had a bike change this is quite topical.

So far i've fitted a power socket for the satnav and phone charger.
Engine bars, cheaper than OE plastics.
I'm currently looking for a tankbag that fits nice. The old bike had a custom fit tankbag so maybe this time i'd like a multifit type to transfer to the next bike.

And lastly, i've ripped out the crappy unreliable battery draining Datatool alarm!

lol thats what i thought. it would be possible but fairly major surgery to split the seat base in two and have two seperate locks and fittings, but the joint would be right over the battery and fusebox, it would need something fancy to keep the rain pouring in there.

a tip i read on the HuBB about sheepskins- if you dont have a covenient sheep or goat drop dead at your feet, go in a tack shop. a cheap sheepskin "numnum" or "noonoo" or whatever goes between saddle and horse. to protect expensive horseflesh from bouncy ladyflesh i guess.
