Some guidance/help required on connecting an Autocom on a Yamaha XT1200Z

Now have Zumo 660 installed on bike - great piece of kit.

Now want to connect it up to an 'old' Autocom Pro-7-Sport.

I was able to install autocom myself on a Triumph Thunderbird by wiring it into the rear broke light connector/cable near the brake pedal - but am stumped as to how to connect it up on the Super Ten.

Have removed seats etc to check access to wiring etc - but cannot work out where to wire it in...

The Autocom guide suggests that it should be fitted by a dealer if bike is still under warranty and has ABS.

Have looked at the other threads with complex relay boxes and stuff...but suspect that may be beyond my capabilities.

Any help or instructions etc appreciated...thanks.

I use an Pro 7 Sport on my GS1100 Panzer.

I have mine wired into thr rear light, as I always ride with my lights on therefore the Autocom is on only when the lights are on.

So never have to worry about switching it off.

I would imagine finding the wires behind the light unit should be easy enough

have you tried the eastern beaver kit?
really simple to use, as it connects directly to the battery using a inline fuse, although you will still need to wire directly into the live feed on the back light so the sat nav is always live

Failing that if you are at the boil rally ask me and i will show you the kit etc
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

ok thanks - what I can't work out is where/how to get access to the right point at which to connect the autocom wire to the back light wire or what you call the 'live feed' to the back light....if that makes sense?

One connection from the auto com goes directly to the battery - I can do that ok - just need to work out where to connect the other wire...everything is sealed near the brake peddle...and I have yet to work out where to join the other wire.

go in the right side panel where the battery is,above it to the right you will see 2 sets of wires both sets are connected to half of a funny shaped white plug,snip one of these white plugs off[they dont marry up to anything]the 2 wires that you have left are earth and an ignition live,job done.I've used both sets on mine for spotlights and heated wraps.

gazxt - ok thanks - will check out tomorrow - how do I determine which is live and which is earth?
Or are they colour coded to tell which is which?

Can't remember the colours sid but if you buy a cheap electrical screwdriver with the wire coming out of it and a crocodile clip on the end put the clip on the brake pedal expose both the wires turn on the ignition touch each wire with the screwdriver,the live will light up the screwdriver OR the earth is usually the one with a bit of black running through it.
