Local knowledge required - Peaks

Post by DrAble »

Hi All

Off out for a bit of a shakedown this weekend with a few friends.

Plan is to ride a few trails in the Peaks / Derbyshire Saturday, booked in on a campsite in Pindale for the night then then have a full day riding Sunday.

Just equipped Tiny T with some TKC80s so looking forward to getting muddy, and seeing how I get on with some gear strapped to the bike :)

Question is can anyone recommend a good pub for some decent ale and some good grub for the evening... We were thinking of aiming for Castleton/Hope

Any thoughts or recommendations greatly appreciated.

If any folks are about feel free to message me, be good to bump into any others out and about

Cheers in advance

Matt

There is a tiny campsite at the bottom of Pindale but it looks a little remote
I would say the lad in the previous post has the best sugestion at Hope as there are a few pubs and the Woodbine cafe Good spot and popular with trailbikes
Another spot but a little "rougher" would be the 3 stags at Wardlow mires ( opposite a great cafeKnow as The Yonderman) Thats a more traditonal beer pub - the snap is supposed to be good but I have not eaten there for yonks

I've stayed at that campsite before, it's very close to the cement works and it was noisy all night. It was few years ago and it may have changed, but it's not that close to the pub.
Never enough time and so much to see and experience.

Previously a VStrom 650, and a KTM SMR 950, currently XT600E with many mods. And now a F800GS Trophy since the KTM has gone.

Pin dale campsite is as near to Castleton as it is to Hope, just go in the opposite direction. There are more pubs in Castleton, the George does good food. With 6 pubs all close together you can get very happy very quickly!

Spot on Guys cheers

We've already booked into the one at Pin Dale but the other site at Hope sounds a winner for another day.

Cheers for the heads up on The George Multirider, the 6 others will definitely need a visit as well ;) should make for a good nights sleep whatever!

Looking forward to it!!!

Great shout at the weekend.... George Pub served us well :) Spot on food and beer.

Campsite at Pindale was spot on and owner was a top guy, even let us lock the bikes up in the his barn for the evening, at 7 quid a head we were laughing!

Only problem we had all weekend was my bikes severe dislike for getting wet... some modifications needed! But its all part of the fun

Cheers
