Womens Bike Gear
Womens Bike Gear
Does anyone else have difficulty getting/buying womens bike gear. I have just managed to get bike boots "Hein Gericke", jacket "Richa" and "frank thomas" ladies sallopets. All i need now are gloves about two inches smaller in the fingers... Does this put women off if the gear isn't designed for extreme practical use.
Re: Womens Bike Gear
Mrs MC has mostly Dianese stuff from Bike Stop in Stevenage which has a good selection of ladies stuff.
Boots are Sidi (again ladies model) from Girls Bike 2 in Hitchin
Both do online sales
She has also done well with stuff from Hein Gericke in the past

Re: Womens Bike Gear
Not really.
I do get put off by most womens bike clothing due to the amount of pink and white.
Quite possibly the worst colours for AB/trail riding, we like to get muddy too.
I know I probably have more knowledge than the average bloke on how to remove stains in the wash but its not how I wish to spend my spare time
Alpine Star do good womens gloves.
Off to the dirtbike show next month so will be trying Klim clothing on. Its a shame as in the States Klim do womens bike clothing.
Theres a lot of women who are either pillion or ride themselves on here. Maybe ABR could run a feature on women specific clothing

Re: Womens Bike Gear
Yeh i struggle pink with single zips mean leaks and wet bits, long sleaves. Thanks Mad Cow i have not tried your sugestions. But i have tried everything at the bike show last year. Do u know how skinny u have to be to wear frank thomases ladies boots there smaller than a pair of sox.
Re: Womens Bike Gear
I've got a pair of Buffalo summer gloves which are a brilliant fit and have done many miles. Altberg can be a good option for boots as they come in different widths.
It would be nice if some more bike clothing manufacturers would realise that some of us girls like to eat chocolate and pies

Re: Womens Bike Gear
My local biker clothing shop, JTS biker clothing has ladies from all over the UK visiting them. If the shop owner is there he is always interested in hearing about new ideas. I got him to put side zips in some ladies jackets for instance
He has jackets and trousers in leather and textiles up to size 30, so something for everyone
My main problem is broad shoulders - I always have to get jackets that make me look like an American footballer to get the fit (and hips, every girl's nightmare).

Re: Womens Bike Gear
They specialise in short and tall riders, Moonrider, so you might find something interesting? His prices arent horrific either. Currently has a sale on so when I've recovered from my spill and my bike is fixed I'm heading over to get my son some of their great kid's textile pants

Re: Womens Bike Gear
Jenny Tinmouth (British Supersports Racer) was interviwed in a bike mag a few months back and she said she couldnt find any female riding gear that fitted her properly. A lot of the kit she wears is for males.
Re: Womens Bike Gear
I should qualify my statement above because my better half is a size 10 and 5' 8" so although she can fit into female bike clothing she struggles to find stuff with jackets or sleeves long enough. Small blokes stuff is just too wide!
And whilst she doesn't mind pink clothing, she absolutely detests it in bike gear
She too finds Alpinestars ladies gloves to be a good fit
