Spanish motorcycle insurance

Post by paulw1882 »

Morning All

Me and my better half have recently moved to Javea, Spain, along with my 3 bikes.

Does anyone know of/recommend any good bike insurers in Spain ?

Cheers

Hi Paul,
I've got mine insured with Liberty Seguras, it's still on uk plates but thats no problem and they accept your NCB, I'am insured to ride from North Africa through Europe (except Albania) to Russia and includes 365 days breakdown cover, hope this helps?
All the best,
Jim

I use Caser and Linea Directa now, and have used Ibex in the past. Ibex were expensive, but excellent when I had to make a claim.

You don't have to be a member but try RACC - the Catalan Royal Automobile Club. But if you do sign up as a member you get recovery on trails - the only one I've ever known do this - recovery in all of Europe and any country bordering the Mediterranean and travel insurance pretty much everywhere (I want to Ukraine last month and that was OK).

I began to investigate this after meeting a stranded 4x4 driver waiting for his recovery way up on a trail in the Pyrenees, well over 2,500 metres and sure enough as we were riding down the mountain I could see the RACC truck approaching the deadster in the distance, somewhere out there!

At the time I was p****d off with my bike insurance who a) used the prefix 902 for user rescue service, which is f***ing expensive (RACC is 900, which is free) and b) the same refused to recognise that the road I was on was actually a road and persisted until my pre-pay phone ran out (my usual phone is with Orange, whose coverage is useless out in the mountains) so I was only 'rescued' when the Guardia Civil came along and helped me out ...

Image

Since then every time my various insurances, homes, cars, etc., have come up I've reviewed them and am now 100% with the RACC

If you're a member then cover is for you rather than your vehicle so on another occasion in theory I could have rang them as claimed to be rescued riding my mate's bike - but I'm mean aren't I!
