Anybody still commuting in the mild weather?

Post by waynecoluk »

I know the weather has been crap the last couple of days up north but it has been surprisingly mild all winter.
I usually commute in the summer and put the bike away in October and just use it for fun in the winter. However I find myself still getting on the bike at 05:00hrs and riding the 25 miles to work. This morning at 05:10 it was 11 degrees here on the Norfolk coast! It's meant to be 15 tonight when I ride back.

Anybody else still doing the winter commute when they would have usually stowed the bike for the winter? Or is it just us on the Norfolk coast who are getting the unseasonal good weather?

Cheers

i live up in norway, i couple of weeks ago we had a sudden deep frost, so i changed to winter tyres, the next day no bloody frost and plus 10... figure that out? i ride all winter and actually plan on riding up to nordkapp this month....
we have a saying in norway "det finnes ikkje daarlig vaer, bare daarlig klaer" which translates to: theres no bad weather, just bad clothes"

Ill be riding my bike all winter because I get just as wet walking to the train, which is delayed so often it's not funny and is also packed.

Yep! I still ride to work most mornings. I live in Lincolnshire and we have had a couple of cold days but mostly the weather has been ok. I've just bought a pair of Ryde-Shield handle bar mufflers for the Transalp and I'm anxious to see how they perform. They are bloody huge.

Yep, I commute all seasons, always have, and still enjoy it. Still using my summer bike trousers when normally I'm into my thermal Goretex stuff by early November :)

the weather here down south is perfect for riding (thumbs) had the same thought yesterday regarding the weather so far - it is the beginning of December and yet we only had salt on the roads once (thumbs)

Aberdeenshire council have decided this year not to treat any unclassified roads to save money so I've already had a few mornings driving the car down roads white with frost or snow. The bike's tucked up until March now.
