WESTERN ISLES OCTOBER 2010

Post by 03001978 »

GUYS,

I have 9 days off at the end of October and am going to have a mini adventure over to the Wetsern Isles of Scotland. I have my route in Google maps (Each point is not a stop off point by the way)

Do any of you have any reccomendations of little secret spots or roads that are a must?

If anyone wishes to tag along more, you would be more than welcome.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sourc ... e=UTF8&z=8

Sorry about the long link but the mini URL doesn't work with Google maps for some reason.

You might get one or two ideas from this post.

Looks like a good route.

You could head to Applecross, take in one of the ABR challenges whilst you are out and about!! Over the top to go in and then out via the coast road. Did it in June this year, fantastic ride.

If you have time on skye .. camp at Dunvegan campsite very good , can recommend. if it a nice evening take the B884 to Glendale , go through Glendale about 1 mile take the road to Neist Point Lighthouse.

Road ends at the cliff top .. AWESOME sunset spot .. I used to go there all the time when I was younger. The road is fairly good but single track and lots of sheep ..

Looks like an exciting trip ..

Is that Kinloch Campsite? Look like a really nice campsite. I am going to take my tent with me but I will also be using hostels / B and B's.

Kinloch Campsite , yes thats the one . Its on Mill Road , on the left as you enter Dunvegan (google maps wrong)

Very good campsite ..

easy walk to pubs , shops etc (petrol station as well in dunvegan)..

The glendale road is nice on a good dry day .. great views etc.. its about 30minutes each way from campsite to neist point ..

cheers
