B) Well I went to the show, saw the Vince and bought the video.
Tonight I sat through with Mrs J, had the odd giggle and enjoyed a good tale and one long tune that is now stuck in my head. (1970's porn film musak with a M-S theme).
With some tricky production and editing the whole thing is better than anything Nick Sanders has made (not much of a challenge).
Austin's ever jolly disposition gets you through and the rest of the crew offer a good insight both on film and during over dubs.
The 'over' production gets a bit tiresome and limited filming equipment offers no awe inspiring shots. BUT, the 'do it on a small bike with a tarp and a few mates' message is one of the main points made throughout.
I will watch it again at some point and on reflection there is a great bit about running through Spain on dirt roads whilst you travel to Maroc'
8/10 for the story
10/10 for a budget movie
9/10 for the team effort
7/10 for the over produced effects
Overall 9/10 and worth a watch with your biker mates but maybe not the wife.....

Got the DVD for Christmas too, better not read the posts yet because I have not watched it yet. Will comment once I have seen it with a mate in the company of a few whiskeys.
Re: Mondo Sahara
I also got it for Christmas and have so far watched it twice once on my own and then once with my son
We've done a bit of touring together in the past and watching this together has rekindled the idea so it looks like its going to be a good new Year

I di wonder that my self I think you could ask Austin or the guy that did them may be via this forum or HU?
However after the way Austin was treated by LWR (his view, well documented) then he may be a bit shy of helping, of course no harm in asking.
he was in America premoting Mondo Sahara.
may be if youy watched the dvd again show you the company & the guys name do a google search send a message to the guy or is that a bit ott

Re: Mondo Sahara
Kate and I watched it yesterday. Hmmm, kinda got mixed feelings. It's certainly more than I thought it was going to be. I was imagining lots of zany music and blokes dancing & jumping on dunes and not much more.
Its actually quite a serious little documentary (all be it with some little nice and/or funny bits in it). I saw Austin do one of his presentations about it last month prior to seeing the film. He seems so desperate to get his message across (ABRing is cheap, fun, accessible and open to all) that somehow its got lost in there. I actually reckon it was quite a complicated trip - Tight schedule, lots of logistics and route finding, bike troubles, the whole 4x4 involvement etc not to mention miles of sand riding!
Without seeing his presentation about it, I'd have a lot of questions about what happened and how it happens - almost like you need that as well. Isn't a film supposed to be a stand alone thing? The preso & film work well in tandem, almost like special features on a DVD.
Anyway, not slagging it. Obviously lots of hard work and effort went into it and good on him for giving it a go. If you get a chance to see it, do.
Cheers

Myself & others had a chat to Austins "support" crew after a Mondo Sahara film show.
Mondo Sahara certainly wasn't cheap! We couldn't get an exact number from them but circa £10k per person was a close match.
Great if money is easily replaceable but for the majority, that budget needs to stretch a lot further than a 2-3 week holiday.
