Scotland next week!!
Scotland next week!!
My fortnight holidays start next Monday so can't wait to get on the bike and get over to Scotland for a bit of touring! Hope the weather holds out for me. Spent a few days with the wife in Edinburgh last week doing her thing so next week is my holiday
Re: Scotland next week!!
Excellent stuff, Scotlands the dogs dangles on a bike..just take your wet suit and midge spray.
Im heading up to the west coast this w/end and every w/end till the Aug bank hol then up there for a full week, looking at having a couple of days on Mull while there.
Don't forget to post up where you've been and some pics

Chaos is the only camouflage that incompetence needs to operate at full capacity.
I dunno where that road goes, might as well go take a look anyway there's no where else i need to be right now.

Yes Scotland is the new 'foreign' destination.
I'll be heading north this weekend to Oban then on to Skye with the missus. First time we've toured together on the bike so just 4 days with a 'free' day in both places. We'll be on a black Tiger XC.
I'll be back in the Highlands in September too, for some 'me' time and late summer touring on the Tenere.
I love Scotland, so many great roads, great people and great times.

Mistakes are natures way of showing us we have more to learn

scotland has natural speed traps (sheep)....go north and stick to the west ,keep going north it just gets better and better on up to betty hill and over to tounge...miss out on the east coast if your time is limited...had a lovely run recently down from breamar crossing the a9 and onto crieff via the sma glen...good route south ....have a lovely time

Love Scotland myself it's been a couple of years since I last got over on bike. Not too sure if I'll do Skye this time Unless I would be missing something by not getting there?? I've got 5 days and don't want to be rushing myself.I like my coffee stops!!
Re: Scotland next week!!
So after having looked at the weather forecasts for next week I'm starting to have doubts about going a tour round the highlands. Don't get me wrong I'm not worried about riding in the rain, but its the thought of constant rain and camping and cooking in it that doesn't sound like fun
Isn't it just typical that this great spell of weather is to end just as I'm getting my annual hols

Andy,
Go for it, especially if your time off is not flexible. Find out the camp sites with pods, make a note of where they are and use them for plan B should the weather turn nasty.
The forecast might not be right (wouldnt be the first time)
If it gets that bad, you could always turn round and make a bee line for the ferry
Just my thoughts
