Solo Trip - Single Saddle or Double?

Post by ajwright64 »

I hope this is properly categorized - please forgive me if it's not.

My question is this: Do [you] prefer a single saddle and a double luggage rack on your solo trips (meaning one person per bike, not necessarily all alone). Or do you just leave the double-saddle on and strap things to it instead?

I have a 1990 BMW R100GS Paris/Dakar that came with a single saddle and double luggage rack. It's nice for packing, but the single seat isn't all that comfortable. The double-seat that I purchased from Corbin as an add-on (of course!) is much more comfortable, but strapping things to it is a little ungainly, I find.

I'm interested in [your] thoughts on the pros and cons if you have the same sort of setup on your bike.

Thanks!
