airhawk for me every time ....very very good ..it moves so easy from bike to bike too
the idea is to have very little air in them ..not have them blown up like a cushion ...they will not affect the seat height very much at all
its eight years old now and swaps between bikes ..so its saved some money and shares in sudocreme over the years

I had the same with my Transalp, bought a medical jell pad on ebay medium size but should have got large. Anyway had my tailor insert it( Not in a suit)!?! and did Loughton essex to Ullapool in 9 hours in bliss.

Airhawk everytime, you will be good for hours, and buy one for your pillion!

They really make minimal difference to your seat height, maybe a cm?

We have a roadie and my pillion is complaining more then me and we have made an extra pillion cushion topped with sheepskin for her.
This a tempoary fix however and we have heard mixed results on the tiger800 forum about Gel inserts.
We have now decided to wait till the right time (away) and to get Tony Archer in Huddesfield to remodel both seats and jazz them up too at same time.
Cost between 160 - 180.00 but worth it.

This is a great debate/thread because its on par with stoves/tents/roll mats etc etc for diversity. Best thing to do is go with what ever you are feeling is right at the current time and suits your pocket, however.... The old adage of ‘You get what you pay for” still apply’s I’m afraid....!! Back in the 80’s we used to hack seats to within an Nazmeth of there lives using a trusty hacksaw blade to achieve results and reshaping did seem to work. Take the hideous looking King/Queen seats, ridiculas but oh so bloomin comfy, don’t go there mind....!!! I’d go with what matey said and reshape the seat DIY and add the AirHawk... ;) ;)

Haven't had a problem with the rider seat but the wife complained about the pillion so I sent it off to Tony Archer for re covering and some extra padding. Much better and wifey is a lot happier. She couldnt get on with the Airhawk so I would see if you could borrow one before splashing out.

see attached for some pics.

Dead arse after 1 hour

Did over 3000 miles last year through Norway on 1150GS with Airhawk fitted. Put the seat on the lower height to compensate for extra height of the Airhawk. Would definitely recommend one.
