Apologies if a duplicate post.

If you have a bolt or screw that doesn't screw in by hand very easily and is stiff.

With every full turn, hit the head of the bolt or screw with a hammer ( not too hard to damage it) then wind it completely out.
When you screw it back in it will be smoother and easier.

This works especially well on newly tapped holes as tapping leaves a very small burr on the pitch of the thread, by using the above method it squashes down the burr and makes the thread cleaner so will turn easier.

Camel Back, Need an eye bath, or just clean a muddy part trail side?

This tip was given to me by Paul C.

For an impromptu eye bath, or a quick rinse of hands or parts, you can use your camel back.

Sounds obvious, but the clever bit is this, if it's on your back flex or bend yourself in order to pressurise the bladder, or if it's off squeeze the bladder, both will give you a good steady flow of H20.

Bungee, shock cord, or plain old straps

There is definitely a case for having one or two of these secreted around your machine, as I found out last year when I ripped the sump guard off the Beemer, without one I would have been stuck with trying to get to either a shop, or getting home, as a trail side fix was out of the question.

A Taxing question...

The law aside, when is it vital that you have your tax disc displayed, or at the very least on your person?
Answer; When an AA or RAC truck comes to recover you.
Number one son son (Ben750) was left stranded by the RAC, for not having his tax disc on the bike when they came to collect him following a catastrophic engine failure (yep he'd blown it up).

A lot of people don't fit the disc in case it's lost or stolen off of the bike, and any Policeman can have an ANPR check done as proof, but not it seems our friends in the recovery business, you never know you may need them one day.

One for the winter: keep your spare dry gloves in your armpits or crotch not your cold panniers or tank bag. Instant toasty fingers, if a little whiffy depending upon how long you have been riding that day
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Thanks Herman, and on a related note, this was passed on to us at school by a hard as nails PE teacher; if your hands are suffering with the cold shove them down to your gentleman's vegetables area for a few mins, it's a shock at first but works very well.

TOWING OUT OF TROUBLE
You can imagine a scenario where you or your buddies bike isn't going anywhere under it's own steam, i.e. dead engine.
You are miles from the nearest road or civilisation so you've decided on the towing method.
The easiest way on both of you is to drop the chain from the bike that's being towed, by either removing the split link and stowing the chain, or simply loosening and zip tying / taping it to the swing arm... total free wheeling and no transmission drag.

It's also a good idea to wrap the towing implement 'whether it be rope or strap' once around a foot peg or other of the towed bike being held by foot pressure and tension.
The reason being if it all goes belly up, just lift the foot and the bike is untethered...
For example:- Can you imagine the towing bike being tethered and loosing control and going down a ditch, the towed bike will have to follow, equally the same could be said for the towed bike loosing control to the same end.
The end of the road is the start of the fun

Here's a small tip on how to reduce wind noise on your lid.

I came up with this one when cleaning out the garage, when I found some draught exclusion tape for interior / exterior home doors.

I simply cut my desired length of draught excluder, and stuck it on the hinge part of my crash helmet(s), as this is where the seal was not perfect (on all of my 5 lids, only 1 has a perfect seal). I went out today on my first real ride of the year, and WOW, what a difference, it is so much quieter.

So, it may not look amazing, but it does the job, and does it well.

if stuck on a trail, with a puncture or other prob, if you have the gear, stop and have a brew and a smoke if that is your thing,.......problems seem halved after a cuppa and gives your brain time to mull over what your gonna do. panic or stress will make you bugger up big time, slow, methodical, calm is the way.
if its hot n sunny make a shade out of a poncho or push bike to a shade tree......serious...it makes all the difference, why be uncomfortable?. lay out a t shirt, rag or a carrier bag and place all pieces you remove on said surface, less easy to lose, no dirt or grit to get in threads. babywipes are great for cleaning oily hands......or if you need to use a bush.
Relax, I'm Hilarious!

Quickest way to get a tyre off a rim is to pop the bead off both sides (so the rim drops into the tyre) then just turn the rim and it pops straight out B)
