They, Carole Nash, count mods & accessories as two individual things, and as I have done, given them a list of accessories that are on the bike (XT660z Ténéré, 2008) and they’re pleased for me to have them on, as long, again, as they don’t increase/improve/modify the frame and engine etc…
When I asked them if this was the thin edge of the wedge they said that they shouldn’t think so and it’s down to other Insurance Co. to deal with how they deal with their Policies etc.
So, here is the phone No. for Carole Nash if anyone is interested:

Good luck, and don’t forget, keep an eye on this area and KEEP EACH OTHER INFORMED!!!
Something to be aware of with Carole Nash is that if you ask for accessories to be covered to a particular value, then they may consider that as part of the bike valuation itself (not sure if that applies to all of their policies - may be it did in my case because they used a different underwriter - I wanted a couple of things on my policy that their first suggestion wouldn't have covered).
For example I asked for my bike insured for a value of £1900 and accessories/modifications for £900. I was considering things such as the stainless exhaust, centre stand, crash bars, heated grips etc. as part of the £900 along with luggage - as a replacement bike might come without those things (they weren't fitted as standard by honda and were things I'd added).
When the policy arrived this year there wasn't a mention of the additional £900 initially like there was in last years policy, and when I called to query this I was told that the £900 for accessories/modifications was included in the bike valuation of £1900.
So if the bike was stolen with all the accessories on it, rather than get back £1900+£900=£2800 like I was expecting - which would cover my losses, I'd get back only a maximum of £1900 for everything (which might only cover the bike).
Perhaps that's normal and to be expected, but it caught me out. To their credit, after an email to them explaining that I wanted extra cover in addition to the bike valuation, they sorted it out for me quickly and there was no extra charge. I'll be more careful to check this next time though.
