I’m thinking of maybe giving it a go next year on my little Enfield Meteor and maybe the Transalpina as well. I’d be interested in hearing from anyone that’s all ready ridden over one or the other or better still both.

I failed to get through in May 2015. Like above, we got a mile or two short and the road plowing just stopped. There was an eight or ten foot bank of snow.
Tried again in July 2023 and it was fine so leave it as late as you can.

Just got back, second time i've done it, both times in September. weather ok in the mountains but too hot (35 degrees) elsewhere.
when in the area I stayed at Casa Suzy & Roxy in Arpasu de Jos, reasonbly cheap accommodation and excellent english spoken.
