Re: Maxi-Scooter's - Go Big and Ride Big
I remember about 3 years ago riding my WR250R to Bulgaria (camping) and my route went down to Livorno on the west coast of Italy and then across the tops past Florence on the SS67 to north of Rimini. I didn't know it but this is a serious bikers road. I was doing my best to handle the twisties on the laden WR with knobblies (not that bad actually), but the point was that I was passed regularly by Ducs etc on the bends--However, amongst the mix were some maxi scoots--and they were NOT SLOW scraping stuff around the mountain bends--so to say that they are not proper bikes put someone on one with moderate skill and try and keep up!

Ok I've only ridden about 200 miles now on my newly purchased (2007) Silverwing Scoot, but let me tell you that engine is fabulously smooth.....and motorway speeds are so easy to maintain if you're after a bit of serious touring I'd say.
There's plenty of power for sure.
Comfort is superb, with an adjustable riders seat that slightly moves back/forward with two bolts underneath seat etc. I've used the standard 12V power-socket to charge my phone on the move.
Ordered a new set of front EBC brake pads which should arrive soon.
This is a whole new world for me regards Maxi-Scooter's, I can definitely see the attraction for sure, get on and Twist n' Go, simply brilliant...! I'd say it does 95% of what my V-Strom does.
Over the moon with it for sure. My SV-trom is going to be lonely for a while now....

I wonder if anyone has turned one into a real weapon. Maybe a USD ohlins front end with twin discs and brembo calipers, a trick shock and a bit of tuning...

Nice! How are you finding it?
I’m going to have to start my own thread of midi-scooters ‘go medium and ride big’ when I pick up my Forza 300 in a couple of weeks time. or can I tag on to this one?
I’m booked to go camping the day I pick it up so it’ll be a good test over a couple of hundred miles. Really looking forward to it

I'm sure I'll allow you to tag your Forza 300 mid ranged Scooter here no problems....
I'm really LOVING the big Silverwing 600, it's simply effortless power wise, huge storage and a great 16 litre fuel tank size. Standard ABS brakes are superb along with a handy 12V power-socket.....neat...!
Like riding an armchair along the road, plush ride with proper ooomph.
Looking forward to your Forza arriving...!
Cheers;
Peter
