Yes, fitted one to my CRF250 Rally at 8000 miles just over to replace the OEM one. It's still going strong at 19,800 miles. Noticeable improvement. DID X ring chain.daveuprite wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 12:27 pmThat's exactly what i do Brenhden. Two flat metal plates - one on the pins, the other over the nut which you sit on the link plate between the two pins on the other side - then squeeze with mole grips. ,But you've got to watch you don't squeeze too hard and overtighten the link - which leaves it as a stiff link along the line. It's a good trick.
About a year ago I changed to an old school non-o-ring chain with a split link - because it's easier to get on and off, or for repairs on the trail. Didn't like it. It dried out more quickly and needed more lube, it was louder and sounded clanky when it got even a little bit loose, and it just generally felt rough. The O-rings clearly make a difference and are worth the extra money IMO. Has anyone on here fitted an X-ring chain to a dirt bike? Is that even better?
what have you done to your bike today??

If you can afford a DiD X-ring then buy one....yes they are expensive, but they outlast anything else I've tried and are best value for money if, like me, you hang onto your bikes for years.Slowboy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 7:19 pmYes, fitted one to my CRF250 Rally at 8000 miles just over to replace the OEM one. Re: what have you done to your bike today??
Well, on Friday I spent a few lovely hours removing bits of fairing and fitting to tank side bags to the little XR to put tools and a drink in.
Took it out on Saturday and the first trail was steep and rocky. Instantly realised that because it's such a small bike that's where my thighs have to go when heading up hill!
On Sunday I spent an hour putting it back how is was... Luggage will have to go on the back...

And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Woke up in the night with the realisation that I haven't applied ACF50 to my bikes this winter!
Spent a few hours this morning doing it and generally lavishing my SORN and rather neglected bikes in affection...

Re: what have you done to your bike today??
Started the little 250 yam up ...pushed it so the front wheel was against a wall and did the revup and put it into gear thing to free the clutch which always sticks fast when left for any amount of time...
.......then wheeled it back in the garage
Really Want to go playing, but if I messed up id rightly feel a right bastige having to call for help in the current situation
