Rare vintages seen at ISDE Portugal
Here's one you probably don't know.
Portal...uses a Sachs engine and a lattice frame. Made in France and designed by one Jean Baron.
Never seen or heard of them before.
More rare stuff to follow

1968 Yamaha DT1...arguably the first Japanese trail bike. Came all the way from Canada, and finished!

Re: Rare vintages seen at ISDE Portugal
The Cagiva 125 was one of the first liquid-cooled enduro bikes.
There was a convoluted arrangement of hoses and pipes to mount the radiator where the front number-plate should have been...god knows why as all that steered weight high up can have been of no help to anyone, and meant sticking the front light on the mudguard.

Here's an air-cooled Cagiva...much better-looking IMO

Re: Rare vintages seen at ISDE Portugal
Another shot of the Can Am.
The old bikes ran for the last four of the six days. This bike had been running for a day, and was already missing most of the back mudguard.
It was a tough event for the old bikes, and their (old) riders.
Soberingly two died of heart attacks while riding. That's how tough it is!
RIP
