Whats the ideal road biased adv bike for woman adventurer

Post by Oblix »

The mrs wants her own adv bike, considering she aint got a license yet(newbee & will drop it a few times)

Was thinking of taking her to go try on a nc750 or gs650.

What’s out there thats working for your ladies?

How about a CB500x?

Not too big, not too heavy, not too much power? NC750x whilst not much extra power is a much bigger bike.

Above is from my male viewpoint, having owned a CB500x, DL650 and loaned a NC750x and assuming that she's not very tall :)

Why don't you wait for the KTM 390 adventure! then you can both get new bikes!!!! 790 &390! might even get a good deal on price! then we can all do the TET again in 2020 lol... :D

I'd suggest one of the newer Transalps. Quite a slim and light bike but still has the legs to go the distance.

I also agree with the NC750. My ex is only 5' 2" and rides one which has been lowered a little: manages very well.

I really like the idea of the ktm 795 for me, but the mrs dont enjoy offroad much, her yamaha WR is still just sitting in the shed. But being middle aged 6 foot tall, she’s liking the upright sitting position

"Whats the ideal road biased adv bike for woman?"

It's the one she picks for herself.

It's the one that isn't less powerful than her husband/partner's bike just because she's 'the little woman' and shouldn't have a bike more powerful than his.

It's the one she decides upon because she is just as capable of making the decision as her husband and doesn't much like the condescension of having her choices made for her...

Ask africa twin owners how they find the bike

But seriously, as above, let her pick one herself, one she's comfortable with to pick up, and seat height

"Road Biased" Fazer 600.
Easy to handle very reliable, quite docile until you light the wick, then off she goes.

Whats the ideal road biased adv bike for woman

We just spent 10 days on Spain TET on our Africa Twins, and when I showed her the video’s she immediately fell in love with the adventure element but limited it to the road twisties we had enjoyed throwing the heavy africa twins around(or shall i say felt like we were throwing them around the twisties , on video it looked mild)..

So with a lifetime of biking and 4 in the shed, when she says “help me find a bike that I can ride with you on your adventures”.. then yes 25 years of marriage and two grandchildren later there are some expectations that her husband will point in a general direction, and fully aware that she needs to be comfortable with her ride..

condescending, never.. this yardstick is clearly not the same used elseware, not quite sure what environment that comment gets raised from?
