Ullapool Info and Ride Out Thread
Re: Ullapool Info and Ride Out Thread
Hey Guys, did most of the above route and more last weekend but one,- tremendous riding, however the above has missed out a "must do" which is on the Lochinver loop.Instead of turning right up to Lochinver carry straight on by Loch Osaig to where the road splits, take a left and do the circular round by Polbain and the Summer Islands where the Wicker Man fim was made -some of the best scenery in Scotland, trust me,I live 10 miles from Loch Lomond! Be very, very careful on the return leg up the Lochinver road,it is very, very tiring and full of grit in the middle of the road and you are crossing it all the time.Would also recommend coming up from down South via Braemar and through the Cairngorms to Tomintoul,Grantown on Spey and up to Nairn and across to Inverness.catch Aviemore and the Spean Bridge road on the return leg home. You will not be disappointed guys, hopefully if my shifts allow I will see you all up there.BTW the views from Ullapool campsite are tremendous..

A couple of photo's from a short run into the hills today . . .
A view of the hills beyond Ullapool from the Gairloch road Occasionally you happen upon a track that may lead into the hills . . . As you can see, the Scottish weather was again at it's worst
Here's hoping that the end of September is blessed with a similar forecast.
