2 Cases of ICE.

The first is probably known to a lot but not by all and it concerns ICE.... [In Case of Emergency].
Whether riding alone or with your friends, on or off road, driving, walking etc, have ICE and the number of the someone you'd want contacted in case of an accident etc in your mobile phone.
I believe that the emergency services will look under 'I' if they need to contact a loved one, saving time.

Second ICE related concerns keeping your H2O cool while out on the trail.
I don't have a camel back but I understand that this will work for those as well as bottles.
The night before a ride half fill your chosen vessel with water and freeze it.
The next day before going out fill the rest with water, as the ice melts it cools the water, and overall the drink will stay cooler for longer.
The end of the road is the start of the fun

A bad day on the bike is still better than a good day at the office

On Ktm 990, Africa twins, Vara's etc there is space inside the fairing to tape/cable tie a pair of inner tubes.

They are then always on the bike without you having to pack them in a bag or rucksack.:)

Re Nickj's shakeproof USB charger, I did exactly the same about three years ago to run my sat-nav, charge phone etc on my CCM604, except I built the electronics into a small box and used 1/4" stereo (important!) jack plugs as the connectors. The box is velcro attached near the headlight so it's out of the rain and it's worked faultlessly since I put it in. All of the stuff came from Maplins and from memory the whole thing cost about £6-7. Well worth doing if you've got usb gadgets you want to take with you.

If your soldering skills leave a bit to be desired or you just want a simple solution to keeping usb stuff charged then you might consider one of these -

My wife bought one of them for me a few years ago and I've got it mounted on the handlebars of the CCM (on a quick release mount). The windmill bit charges up an internal battery and there's a usb socket that you plug your gadge into. I think it's only meant to be put out in the wind or on a bicycle but it's survived three years on my bike and still works well - although I do remove it in the rain.

This is true, but the bloke on the 1150GSA was eternally grateful when he ripped a tyre and we fitted a tube from inside my VARA fairing to get him home :P  . ....it pays to think ahead. :) .

+1 to prep. I carry allen keys and torx keys and other small parts which don't even fit my bike but if you can help out another rider it keeps the ride moving. !!( plus you look like a bloody legend :D )
