Re: CRF250 L thread
As I'm considering a crf could anyone tell me if there have been any worthwhile changes /faults rectified etc since the 2013 model first came out? ( not incl 2017 changes ) ..I guess i'm asking if the 2013 is as good as a 2016 model at the same mileage?
Re: CRF250 L thread
Not
Sure what you mean by faults , we've two , a 2013
And a 2015 , had no problems other than the clutch which was more due to terrain etc as it's not an Enduro bike , having said that we've been to Wales , Spain , Italy , and ride around the trails of Northumbria no bother , the bike had a recall re a wiring change other than that it'll go most places , if you want an Enduro bike don't get the Crf l, if your happy with a more softer ride with big service intervals and cheap to buy then they're fine , Ride expeditions use them for their trail rides in Vietnam and Laos, changing them to Kawasaki klx's 250 s for Cambodia with 300 conversions as it's a lot muddier etc

So today we swopped over jaynes clutch for the hduty ebc one , leaving the judder springs in place tho , she did all the work the difference between her well cared for original plates and my overheated ones was quite a surprise, ( same mileage )

Re: CRF250 L thread
they have been out a while now ..there doesnt seem to be any big issues with the crf ..one thing that pops up now and again is a sticking ./failed cam chain tensioner ..mine seems to just lap up the work ..10000 last year .. i did a1000 miles last week on the 300..they seem to hold up pretty well for very respectable milages if the worst happens you can typically find a low milage engine for 6/700 quid and fit it in four hours ..thats far less than a set of panniers on some bikes..it really doesnt get any cheaper to run than the crfwillywombat64 wrote:As I'm considering a crf could anyone tell me if there have been any worthwhile changes /faults rectified etc since the 2013 model first came out? Re: CRF250 L thread
Is the tensioner the same as most other Hondas--simply sprung loaded with a sort of sprag locking device--and a blade screwdriver wind back mechanism to hold it in when installing?minkyhead wrote:they have been out a while now ..there doesnt seem to be any big issues with the crf ..one thing that pops up now and again is a sticking ./failed cam chain tensioner ..mine seems to just lap up the work ..10000 last year .. i did a1000 miles last week on the 300..they seem to hold up pretty well for very respectable milages if the worst happens you can typically find a low milage engine for 6/700 quid and fit it in four hours ..thats far less than a set of panniers on some bikes..it really doesnt get any cheaper to run than the crfwillywombat64 wrote:As I'm considering a crf could anyone tell me if there have been any worthwhile changes /faults rectified etc since the 2013 model first came out?
