Before I can become old and wise, first I must be young and stupid...

60 this year, took early retirement 16 years ago with what I thought was enough money and dreams to start a different/2nd life as the at home dad - 4 kids (girls 14, 12, 9 and Alexander coming up 6) later no money and big plans kicked into the long grass. Retired -pah ! never worked so hard...
Have still managed to get a bit done including some decent mini adventures here and on the continent but nothing further in recent years.
Got bowel cancer and operated on this time last year, and that put everything into perspective !!! Was caught in time (we think - next scan in a few weeks)
(please do your screening it saves lives).
So much to live for, so much still to do.
Made a promise that if I got this far would buy a new and very different toy (still a bike mind) hence the Ducati 950 that I rave about.

Remember you can always make more money but you can't buy time.

Keep at it Brian. I 'retired' at 40 (no kids) and, like you have never worked so hard, or for so little, ever since!

But I too had a cancer, larynx, back when I was 45* and that, as you say, puts everything into perspective.

Best wishes for your recovery and, as you say, always check up with any sign or symptom ...

* came back to biking at 50-something shortly after the five year 'all clear' - although here they follow up for ten years!

I'm 40 and only been riding just over three years. Just got a Triumph Explorer to sit alongside my Triumph Speedmaster. Ridden in the US a couple of times and one tour into Europe under my belt. Looking forward to many more years of fun with the wife as pilly on the back
