None of us have a clue how to do this …

Planning a little soiree, then post it up here. And please, no commercial stuff, this forum is about people not products or services - send us a press release.

famous last words?

We'll remind you you said that when we pull you out of a gorse bush next to an unexploded 80mm mortar shell poking out of the ground

Looks fun to me, on road tyres with a 250kg bike and being very unfit lately, it looks just fine

“It all looks a bit tame doesn't it? ”

Yes & no … but I should add that there is one point where you will come across a very innocuous looking puddle that stretches across the entire piste: well I thought it was innocuous right up until the exact moment the front end of my Defender disappeared under water

Needless to say, I committed said puddles location to memory but to make it all so much more fun, I’m not saying where it is

Jelly, on a slightly more serious note, the idea behind the day is to make it as ‘off road’ as possible while at the same time, keeping it as easy as possible for us complete novices. But I think we will be able to find some terrain that will suit everyone’s abilities :)

Looks good to me too - I like tame!

I think it looks ideal for people who have little/no offroad experience.

Russ - I'll skip the mud if you don't mind :)

No probs..knobblywobbly ;) ;)

The reason behind this day is for everyone to learn and have fun..in their own comfort zones..and take their bikes places they wouldnt go "on their own"..its all really about balance and beleif in your bike and capabilities...

Now just watch me fall off when talking to peps again.:( :(

and the best bit about having rideout leaders is they test the puddle depths first:woohoo: :woohoo: ...

Hi Guys,

W.A. in Oz is built on two things

1. Sand
2. Pea Gravel

No 1 is hard to ride but at least it's soft when you drop it

No 2 is another story, We have a saying that if you can ride Pea Gravel you can ride on anything..

Pea Gravel is exactly how it sounds... Little red stones that are perfectly round & are the size of small marbles..

Looking at your roads you guys should be fine, my only advice is to use the throttle.
Most guys that ride mainly road will worry about losing the front end, by using the throttle in times of deep gravel will make the back wheel dig in until it grips & pushes you through !

The front brake is fine, just make sure that you brake on the straights before you hit the corner the throttle out of the corner !!

Once you can do the gravel, sand will be easy !!

Also having a steering damper helps to !!!

I think maybe I should retract my comments on the tame front.

I'll be quoted every time I drop it now.

Don't stay in your comfort zone guys!
Seriously as soon as you are comfortable with doing one thing move on to another slightly harder thing then that will become your comfort zone. ;)
