insurance Q's

Post by garyboy »

1. on a multi-bike policy .. are ALL the bikes given the NCB ?
[and does this last for 2 years after that insurance has ended?]

2. if I had an accident (reversing my car) that was my fault .. but I do not claim (the third party makes a claim) .. do I LOSE my ncb ?
[my ncb is `Protected` but that is not the point?]

Hi to my knowledge ncb only applies to one bike,if you have a claim against you your ncd is not affected if protected but you have a claim against your name ( that,s what they don,t tell you ) so when you renew they hit you and if it was a car the claim was on you get hit for the bike as well I know this from experience

insurance Q's

Post by -Ralph- »

Both my bikes and both my cars carry their own NCD has all have been insured on separate policies. Even where the insurer has called it Multi-bike or Multi-car they've still given me separate certificates and policy numbers.

You only have one arse, and can only ride or drive one vehicle at a time. It's you that has ridden and insured all your vehicles for a length of time without a claim, so why should you be entitled to a discount on one vehicle, but not the other?

The first i knew about this was when i purchased a BSA bantam and when i went to insure it i was told my NCD didn,t apply to a second bike when i wanted to add it to my policy so i had no no claims discount on the Bantam.

This is why you can't have additional named drivers on a multi bike policy, like Ralph said it's you that has the NCB not the vehicle.
