I hope Yamaha are reading this:

I won't be buying a Yamaha again, ever, after reading this thread.

I have plenty of choice, why would I risk this crap?

Strange, I feel the same way about BMWs.

my xt660z is my last yamaha, won't buy again this brand
after my clutch broke in 1500km and they told me I burnt it intentionally...
They even pointed out my pic in sand on FB saying this bike is not for such roads :silly:

I have been following a ride report on adv, moto mavericks . One of the Yamaha's main bearing went within the warranty period but because it wasn't in the country it was purchased they wouldn't help in any way even though a uk yamaha dealer had seen the problem . The guys even said they would pay for all parts and labour if they could help get them the parts . Yamaha only wanted to shift blame and offer NO help.
I still believe they make good product but there customer care seem to suck

I have to say the XT1200 is essentially a very good bike and i've been very unlucky, The failure was a freak one off due to a Manufacturing fault. I searched online when it happened for XT1200 Engine issues and there are very few.
there are two points that have annoyed me.

1. I've been told that the warranty on the new engine expires the same time as the Bike warranty, so My engine may or may not be fitted in January and the Manufacturers warranty on the Bike Expires in Feb.

2. I have spoken to Yamaha Directly and pointed out that 4 (probably 6) months with no bike is not acceptable but they were not interested and just kept repeating what they are told to say.

What hasn't helped is the fact that although the bike still has manufactures warranty left on it I bought it from a Non Yamaha Dealership with 555 Miles on it (it had 2,053 when it blew up). They have told me if I want a refund from them I have to take them to court !
Now here's the important part.

I paid for this bike on a Debit card, this was a big mistake. If I had paid a deposit by Credit card (over £100) and paid the rest on my Debit card I could get my money back through Visa as items bought on a credit card are refundable using charge back or Section 75 (apparently not all of the Banks are aware of this).

it doesn't matter if the bike is great or not (while running).
Yamaha policy is not acceptable, I would go to court.

Have you double checked with visa rather than the issuing bank as i was sure visa regardless of credit or debit would help...

Im off to send a email to clarify this point as one reason i use visa...
