Thinking of maybe a change... What's it worth

Was wondering what it will go for, more curiosity that anything
I've seen them going for dirt cheap to silly expensive.
I was thinking in the region of maybe £8000 :whistle:

With concourse R80G/S's going for 12k and upwards , you are not far off the mark (thumbs)

The R80 G/S is a different fettle of kish--its so much lighter, lower, and simpler--and ultimately fit for purpose as a go anywhere bike. The early oilheads are arguably the best of the later bunch as the model simply went downhill in all departments after that--but they do seem to fall between two stools on price--I guess its all about reputation, supply and demand. You won't improve things by buying a later model.

Well I was shocked / and Sad to say the least when I found out Als 1100gs is on hear for sale it's one of the cleanest bikes iv seen and like some one said they do every thing you ask of them . There are bikes out there that cost the earth and do the same as yours Al ,

condition might be great but ultimately its still at least 17 years old.

What has that got to do with it?

30 year old Airhead GS's are fetching £6k

90 year old Brough Superiors are £250k

Here's one on eBay. Watch that, see how quickly it sells, and how yours compares to it and make a judgement from that.

Name a 1960's or 70's bike that is still around that isn't now considered a classic.

To become classic it just needs to become rare.

i dont think the gs 1100 will be rare as they last so long...i am also untrusting of the insurance senario inthe future re abs and traction control being required to be insured for road use
