TRF becomming Extinct?

i think that in the very near future we will be having a similar conversation about electric mountain bikes being banned from bridleways....

Very few people have the fitness to be able to ride a bicycle on the lanes. Most restrict its use to getting around the DD laws as a means to getting to the pub or saving money/time with public transport. Electric bikes change all that and more and more bikes are being sold, the lanes are going to fill up, accidents will start to be regular and regulation will follow.

We need to get to grips with the problem now. Access is for all. Stop the rot with mechanically propelled vehicles and that will leave bicycles ( and electrical vehicles generally) a little more secure for the future.

Electric bikes may or may not come under scrutiny in the future but as with everything else it's more about how the owners behave than anything else. Keep off footpaths, slow down at blind corners and avoid places where parents take their kids to learn how to ride push bikes and it'll not happen for a while (thumbs)

The future of the TRF does concern me and I didn't renew my membership because I don't think that the infighting going on at present is worth my support. I know that a lot of others feel exactly the same way and sooner or later it'll sink in that changes must be made at the top.

A lot of members are considering this very option, some are starting new clubs, some actually agree with the current leaders. :huh: ......most are doing nothing and waiting :unsure:

the current leaders are enshrining themselves so they can "reign" with or without the membership.

I had a cracking ride out this afternoon on my CCM with my son on his XT 660 we did about 65 miles around the White peak area, probably about 15 miles off road. The only downside was that two lanes I used to ride are now bridle ways and one is closed to all vehicles half way down.
Whilst the TRF has obviously failed to stop these closures, who else is going to try. Without the TRF I think there will be no legal lanes left in the Peaks in ten years time. So whilst they may not be perfect they can have my money.

These four are actively trying to engage with and yet challenge the PDNPA in respect of their applying TROs to UCRs and BOATs in the Peak District and surrounding areas.

Thanks Hugh I wasn't aware of them. Are there any other national organisations that are fighting to protect green lanes for motorcyclists? Whilst the Peak district, being my backyard is my prime concern, I do get out elsewhere occasionally and would like to do what I can to help preserve what we have got nationally.

Well today the TRF sunk to a new low, with the Tech Director posting a disgraceful personal forum attack on a long standing member.
How an organisation can expect to survive with such unprofessional behaviours exhibited by a so called director is beyond understanding.

In answer to your question, the TRF is proposing to shut down the Members' only section whilst a new system is being introduced.

The Public section will remain open so all Posts during that time frame should be visible. You might wish to take a look now and let me know how you get on.
