Bennetts what a rip off!

Post by Hoggyf »

Just moved house and rang Bennetts to advise them of my new address and bloody hell!! -
£32.00 admin fee, 28p insurance tax and and £2.00 odd, what the £2.00 was for she hadn't a clue and "her screen doesn't tell me that" the only way to find out was to be put through the to someone else, which after 15 mins already on the phone, I couldn't be arsed to find out. All that for about 38 key strokes on the keyboard.
Don't think I'll renew with them again if I can help it.
Then:
Honda MB5, Honda MBX125, 350LC, RGV250, MTX125, GasGas JTX250, CM 644 DS, BMW R1100S, Beta Rev3 250, Beta Rev4T, Honda XL700V Transalp, BMW F800 GS, Kawasaki Super Sherpa
Now:
Montesa 4RT, Triumph Tiger 800, Beta Alp, Montesa 315

I gave up on this company some years back due to their charges. Try changing a bike. :woohoo:
Would not waste my time on them.

I think you'll find they are all the same,i recently changed policies over from one bike to another to make use of the NCB on a newer bike,Devitt charged me £35 and Bennetts £30,my mate just altered a policy with Swinton and they charged £45,as you say for what, just a quick dabble on a keyboard,it's even worse if you cancel a policy early with all the charges and non refundable premiums etc.

Most charge a change of contract fee I had a £40 fee for adding a new bike where the bike itself was only £30 on the policy.

I changed my bike recently and wanted the policy to overlap in case either bike was stolen in the changeover period. The lady i dealt with at Bennetts was supposed to charge me a cancellation fee and a new policy fee but she left a note in my records and i didn,t have to pay both. I thought it was ok. I wish there was a motorcycle insurer like Swift cover does for cars which is totally flexible and you sort out your own changes and temporary cover, upgrade the policy etc. Motorcyclists seem to be an easy target for rip off merchants.

When I sold the Tenere and bought the Deauville I had to change the bike but I was sneaky I just ent with someone else and let the Tenere policy run out on its own. Bloody charlatans.
Make an effort

I will be doing the same soon and if they do that will check what the cancellation fee is and, if not much different to the change of adress fee, go for the cancel option.

Thanks for posting forewarned is .....etc (thumbs)

In the UK you can only use the no claims discount against one policy so I understand?

That is correct,i had the same bike for ten years and when i went to add a new bike to the policy they said i could do that but would only accrue no claims on the original bike unless i had a separate policy. As it was only a BSA Bantam i just added it to the other policy. It was a real surprise to me. Another shock was when i renewed my car insurance and they told me i had a no fault claim in 2012. I disputed this and when they looked into it there was a windscreen claim which now have to be declared.
