My first time down there

How much in euros will I need to cover camping 10 nights, fuel, simple evening meals and 1 shandy?

Paul, you will find that the correct term at HISS events is in fact a "Shandy Pooftah"! (thumbs)

I find that including 2-3 nights in F1 style hotels and ferry, the event will be around £800 total. That doesn't include bike bits you break.. ;)

Be more expensive this year for obvious reasons with exchange rates a bit shite.... However beer in the local shops is cheap and food is not overly expensive

Hi Paul,

That's a good point to raise, especially with the exchange rate issue still running. You can see the standard prices for the camping here but Jordi gives us a special rate that varies depending on how many folks share a pitch (which are about 100 metres square.

I haven't spoken to him yet to sort out the actual amount for this year but I'll do these when I get there in about a week's time.

Meanwhile, I'm not sure what 'shandy-pootah' costs, but 33 cl bottles of Estrella, my tipple, are €1.60 and meals start at around €6.50. It's also possible to order fresh bread to be delivered in the mornings to make up sandwiches for your day's ride.

You can also get quite good ready meals the shops in La Pobla, where they stay open until 9.00 pm so it's a safe bet that you can pick something up on your way back from riding.

Fuel is still considerable cheaper in Spain than in France - there are low cost fuel places in Tremp, costing €1.099/l. while Repsol goes for €1.155. The petrol garage in La Pobla is €1.149/l. the station at La Pobla also has quite a good shop so you make a one-stop, er stop - and like all good road service stations in Spain they have a fridge stuffed with cold beer - including shandy-pooftah! Simon, probably won't bother with bbq this time, mostly planning to avail myself of jordi's cocina.
I will probably arrive on the 10th, will it be ok to rock up to the camp site early?

OK here's my tyre stash. Anyone is welcome to them first-come-first-servrd but HISSers can 'reserve' now for collection in September:

Rears:

Metz Tourance: 130/80-17: 2mm tread at centreline

Conti TKC 80 130/80-17: 3.5mm tread at centreline

Heidi K60 120/90-18: 4mm tread at centreline

Pirelli Scoropin X Heavy Duty 140/80-18 M&S: 5.5mm tread at centreline

Heidi K60 130/80-17: 7mm tread at centreline!

Mitas E-09 130/80-18: 7mm tread at centreline!

Mitas E-09 130/80-18: 4mm tread at centreline

Heidi K60 100/90-18: 5mm tread at centreline

Metz Tourance 90/90-21: 3mm tread at centreline

Mitas E-09 90/90-21: 3.5mm tread at centreline

Metz Karoo 3 90/90-21 M&S: 3mm tread at centreline

I talked the camping tariffs over with Jordi and he's saying it'll be the same as last year, which looks like 25% discount over all the prices - so subject to him confirming that, later today I hope, I'll work out a few examples like last year and let you all think about it.
