Cheers Dave, just seen that one. I think I want something a bit bigger and more exciting when I open the throttle, but if my dad tags along he will more than likely be after a 250, so Ive sent him the links for the KLX and CRF 250's.

Have you considered any of the KTM 600 enduro range the 625 and 640 are a bit heavy but there are a few 690e's and slightly taller than it's more conman cousin the R (thumbs) , but if you want full on Enduro fun then it's always going to be a compromise, but my (unbiased  ) opinion is the KTM 500 range, be it 500/520/525/530 they all have the 510 engine in ( RFS - 07 XC4 08 - onwards ) and as Mike54 says if your not bouncing off the rev limiter then you can elongate the service intervals and they are very easy to work on (thumbs)
The holly grail would be a low mileage KTM 525mxc with RFS and single header pipe, better gear ratio for distance and a larger tank...

Here's mine, the engine is just coming up to 11000 miles, as you can see, it has the exc body kit, smaller tank ( 70 mile to reverve ) and no indicators.

I put beefier sub-frame bolts in, but wouldn't want to put to much weight on, enough for a week (thumbs)

A non KTM option would be the Kawasaki KLR650, only joking  the KLX450 seems to work on paper, never ridden one but tick all the boxes (thumbs)
