Can anyone tell me the tyre that will last the longest for a bmw r1200gs.
I am looking at the roadsmart 3 and pilot road 3 and 4.
but am open to others.
Maybe Adventure bike mag can include a piece about this in the next mag.
it looks like the pilot road 4 GT would be the longest lasting, but its not available in the rear tyre size to fit the r1200gs 150/70-17
so anyone know which lasts longest?
Tyre compare, longest life tyre
Re: Tyre compare, longest life tyre
The problem with these big heavy bikes is, they are big heavy bikes. You'll likely square off before you wear down no matter how much bends you ride, that's just the way it is, with bike heavy bikes. (thumbs)
Re: Tyre compare, longest life tyre
It depends on what type of rider you are, I like to think I'm a smooth rider, not much heavy braking, but like to get a move on.
Most of my mileage is continental travel loaded up with camping gear, I've used Tourances in the past and now used Trail Attacks, I get around 10,000 miles from a set of tyres.
I ride an 1150..one of them there 'Big Heavy Bikes' (apparently)

Original Tourance are good, as has been mentioned. Around 6-10,000mls depending on weight and how you ride for a rear.

Re: Tyre compare, longest life tyre
You want a tyre that inspires confidence not what lasts longest....I have gone through several sets of battle wings which maybe no better than any other tyre but I trust them..downside is I kill a back tyre at about 5000 miles.
