EU. In or out?

You can be sure of one thing. If the vote goes to stay in then we're fuc**d.... The EU bureaucrats will take this as a green light from the UK population for full on federalisation and there will be nothing we could do about it. We will be sucked into a United States of Europe with abolition of the Pound etc. There will be future Treaties that will ban individual Countries from Veto's... Let's just hope people see through all the doom sayers that say we can't survive outside it and vote OUT. Then we can concentrate on trading with who we want rather than who we're told to...

some things I have read has said we vote out and we just leave, some have said that there is a 2 year negotiation period but don't say exactly what we are negotiating. Some have said the EU will hit us with a massive tariff to try and stop anyone else leaving.

this is a one shot deal Cameron has agreed to that as the EU has said we can never go back again, I must admit I can see why they would say that

No chance. Billions upon billions would be lost by all sides if that happened. The main issue is will the UK be able to or want to be in the EEA or ECU and benefit from the customs and duty free freedom of movement for goods and services and freedom of movement for people to work.

Depends on what you mean by 'big bosses'; The CEOs of about 33% of the FTSE100 signed a letter supporting the UK remaining within the EU.

There hasn't been a similar letter from CEOs of FTSE100 companies supporting 'BREXIT'.

Can someone canswer this question for me?

If we vote OUT, and I hope we do, does that automatically mean that we will be out of the EU after we've negotiated our exit terms or can our government come back to us, the public, and say they want us to stay IN but on better terms?

In my way of thinking surely the result of the referendum should be binding?

I would be very surprised that, if we vote out, there will be more ducking and diving from both sides of the cchannel to keep us in and would not be surprised (as Boris suggested) if we get more relaxed terms thrown at us and a nother referendum announced.

OTOH, the government are just that, the government and can quite literallly do what they want. It may be suicide for Cameron but in all honesty, he will not care in the long run. He is hangign his boots up and if Labour get in next time, we will go broke again and 5 years later the Conservatives will get back in and squeeze us to death to pay for the previous overspend.

Same old, same old. Political parties are in for 5, 10 or sometimes 15 years but civil servants remain forever.

No because the UK has many opt outs which it already uses and a stay vote now does not mean stay for ever with no chance of a future referendum. Ireland has had 7 EU referendums over the years regarding what it will be a part of within the EU;

If these bureaucrats do what you suggest, I would vote for us to leave in the future. The UK would survive out of the EU, just as Scotland would survive as an independent country. The issue is whether or not membership is better than not being a member.

Think of the EU as a golf club. You can be a member and have a say it how it is run and the right to be there for meals, drinks and rounds of golf any day, on your own or with others. Or you can be a non member who can pay to play but only on certain days, you can eat, but only with another member, you are not allowed in the bar and you have no say in how it is run. You will save some money by not being a member, instead of the £180 membership and full access it will likely cost you £120 a year for the limited access.

I'm only guessing but surely it has to be binding with no second chance whatever happens. I just hope that whoever wins gets more than 50% of the available votes rather than those cast because it'd be rubbish if we ended up with the losers saying a minority made the decision. That goes for whoever wins because strange as it may seem my mind is still open on it and I'm just waiting for facts to be delivered rather than hysteria.

Given that the turn out will likely be less than 70% (General election turn out is less than 70% for almost the last 20 years) and if this forum is representative (but I doubt it is, generally seems more eurosceptic) we would see 64% of the 70% voting for 'out'; 45% of the eligible electorate.

I expect that the vote will be closer than 64/36; probably something like 55/45 so in reality whichever side wins the argument it will be a minority of the electorate that got their way; something like 35%.

However... if people can't be bothered to vote, as far as I'm concerned they don't have the right to complain about the result.

So, I'm voting... and hope I'm not complaining about the result!
