A couple of hotel recommendations.
If you are in Cape Town, the 2inn1 Kensngton is an amazing place to stay. Beautiful rooms and service 2nd to none. We got married from there, just over a year ago and they couldn't have done more for us. It's where the BMW Motorrad guys from Germany stay in CT...when they can get in. It's very popular.
If you want somewhere out of CT, I can also highly recommend the Hog Hollow Country Lodge which is near Plettenberg Bay. It's in a private nature reserve, and is very beautiful. Great service and wonderful food.
We are hoping to go back to the 2inn1 next year as we are planning a 50th birthday tour, from CT to Victoria Falls....can't wait

It will not be a "beach" holiday as neither of us would spend days laying on one, as regards to transport it will be what ever is available bus, plane train whatever we need to get us somewhere.

She is looking at the "Drakensberg" and a "park" she is also watching the nut case walking across India on the telly, so fair to say it will be an "activity break"

If you're going to a park for a short period of time then bite the bullet and pay to go on one of their morning or evening trips if you want to be as near to certain as you can be of seeing the animals you want to see because lions etc are tagged and they know 'roughly' where they are.

It's nice to drive around and find things for yourself in the daytime but you're reducing your chances of seeing the main items on the menu (thumbs)

Also watch out for drunk drivers in the parks because a lot of people neck beers as they drive around.

If you are in or near Cape Town take a trip along Chapmans Peak drive its well worth the toll I had 3 weeks in SA a couple of years ago and loved every minute
even got the tee shirt from Ronnies Sex Shop (google it if you are thinking the worst of me)

Hi, if you are not committed to South Africa and looking for adventure, the Okavango Delta in Botswana is amazing. My wife and I did a Safari on horseback many years ago, for those who don't ride you can walk with guide and take a mekaro canoe on the flooded waterways. It is a massive delta area, and the wild life is extensive, due to the amount of water you avoid the convoys of 4x4s circling the latest kill and can get very close to the wildlife - especially on the mekaro's.

I've just watched Zulu but afraid it didn't give much insight :laugh:

I was last there over a decade ago now so not exactly on the minute insight but while in Cape Town booked a budget flight to Joburg & a 4 day safari to Kruger. It was cheap but excellent, minibus & guide, 3 days camping in the park with a 4th night on a private reserve in a game lodge, all meals inc. Night safari & one day tracking / walking through the bush with a man with a V large gun to fend off elephants. I think all of that came to something crazy like £200 for 2 people inc the return flight to Joburg (thumbs) The rand was not doing well at the time.

2 weeks is barely enough time to scratch the surface so I would pick an area that interests you & then circle around. I do highly recommend a road trip though, once out of the cities you wave to oncoming traffic, it's that infrequent. Some of the most stunning scenery you will ever come across too. The north is breathtaking, but then so is the south :pinch:

I had more fun travelling there than Oz by a long way. Enjoy

Stick to western cape as you will spend too much time travelling,best hotels are mount nelson and cape grace.deffo do nederburg or boschendall wineries in Stellenbosch ,it's a world within a country and you WILL be back

Thanks all. SWOMBO's plan is to do things now that we (I as I am older than her) wont be able to do in 10 to 15 years time.

Probably was 38 yesterday as its summer in the Southern Hemisphere. :silly:
