Hi all I have a BMW F 800 GS 2010 model
I have just purchased some denali DC micro LED lights
The system comes with its own wiring loom
And relay and on off button to control lights .
This is where I am confused it has a single switched 12 V wire that on the wiring diagram it says use one post tap connector to tap the wire into any switched 12 V power source for example motorcycle running light wire – light wire or switched volt power source .
I have read different reviews on different websites and I am a little bit confused as some people say it can confuse the Canbus system and cause a warning light .
1, First question when the ignition is switched off I do not want the lights to be able to be switched on or off by the
separate control button .
2, Second question where do I get the switched 12 V power source . ?
3 The system does come with its own wiring loom harness relay and positive and negative to connect to the battery .
I do not want to do anything that will cause problems with the Canbus my local BMW dealer does not want to fit the lights .
HELP
Regards pal

Re: Denali DM micro led driving lights (help)
I can't help you with the CanBus bit but usually there is a live to the relay that should be connected to a 12V supply that is only live with the ignition on. There will be another wire that connects to the battery but is switched live via the relay this continues to the lights with a switch before the lights.
Thus, the lights are switchable on or off but only if the ignition is on.
A good source for the ignition live is generally the rear light wire.

Ok I think I understand, I must admit I don't like messing around with the electrics.I might get in touch with gaz at the adventure bike warehouse, and get booked in for them to install. I bought some Telcom fog lights from them a couple of years ago which they installed for me.

Do you get any problems flagging up on the canbus system warning light ex ex
Re: Denali DM micro led driving lights (help)
Fitting the supply wiring loom and relay will not bugger up the Canbus.
The spare red wire with the positap is only a trigger wire to activate the relay. Where to tap it to? Well, any wire that becomes live only when the ignition is turned on and then preferably one that's convenient is the honest asnswer. Popular choices include:
(a) Any factory fitted aux power socket will have a switched live feed, controlled by the ignition switch.
(b) The rear light. Take care that you don't accidentally tap it into the brake light feed, or you'll only power your Denali lights when you apply your brakes, which if nothing else is funny.
(c) The GPS feed
(d) The list goes on....
A Google of 'Denali DM micro led driving lights fitting to bmw 800 gs' (in addition to your question) turns up:

Yup, it's all about firing up a Fuseblock with a switched power supply but it's just the same process. Dead easy to follow and do. Have a go, you really cannot break anything.

Hi thanks
I can follow that ,I already have some Telcom fog lights fitted controlled by a switch, would I be able to take the 12 V switch feed from there.
