Everyone has a different idea I guess and I reckon there's no one answer. I just like getting out on my bike, going new places and getting off the beaten track. No plans really on a ride out just suddenly take a side road/track to see what's down there. Can't remember where I heard/read it but someone once said, and I know it's a bit cheesy, that it's not about the destination, it's the journey in between. (or sommat similar) I tend to go out now on day ride outs with that thought in my mind.

I have to agree with the above,In that an adventure is what you make it to be, I only started riding last August after 2000+ miles as a pillion in Europe had a great time but wanted to do it for myself so got back took my CBT then bought a Yamaha xt125X. Ive been riding nearly every day since except for the really bad weather, to begin with it was an adventure just venturing out on the road, but now as my confidence has grown Im going further afield on my little bike and have a camping trip booked next week with my husband taking all the gear on his GSA and me plodding along behind then a couple of ride outs. I read somewhere recently that being on a bike is being in the picture not just looking at it or something like that but says it all for me.
Just riding a bike is an adventure

Maybe you can tell us your views on the subject rather than your opinion of others, that would be far more interesting.

mm Perhaps rather than just slate people, or think it is of no interest to you, it would be far better for you to just not reply to a thread.

I have absolutely no idea what an ‘adventure rider’ is but I would like to think, in my increasingly less frequent sober moments, that it is me.

Try as I might, I can’t come up with a succinct yet witty definition, so I shall just pour myself another beer instead.

However what I am sure of is that this forum & the mag, you ladies & gentlemen, inspire me to just get out there & ride. Everything else is mere detail & hence irrelevant.

To add lightness to the topic and to fully let my inner geek out I would say this is an adventure rider:

Middle Earth 1978!

Bet he could get to Mount Doom a bit sharpish. Wonder how big your thighs have to be to successfully take a CBX1000 off road.
