I use Vango self inflating pillow. Less than a tenner and can be adjusted easily.

I use the cover from an inflatable pillow and stuff it with a down jacket in the winter, and use a fleece to fill it for the summer. I the put it inside my sleeping bag hood to stop it escaping.

I find it fantastic and super comfy.
Adjust the air to suit ya bonce.

I've tried loads of inflatable ones and the best I've come across is the Exped Comfort pillow. Make sure you go for the comfort one, as they do a 'normal' inflatable one.

I take a cotton pillow case as I like the feel, in it goes all my soft clothes and like mentioned below I will top it off with my sheepskin. doing this you can get it exactly a thick as you need it. When I was away last year I pulled a muscle in my back and it worked really well.

Problem with a pillow as I see it is bulk. I don't like the inflatable ones so this is my option too. I use a fleece jacket [National Geographic freebie] in summer instead of thermal lining as it doubles up for casual wear off the bike. I wrap the soft clothes inside it inside a pillow case and it makes for an excellent pillow, adjustable to suit your needs. Takes trial and error at first but once you get the hang of it you are made but without having to carry a bulky pillow.

I bought a pillow from Lidl/Aldi for £1.99
As a pillow for the home, it wouldn't be great, but it's ideal for camping
Small and will flatten down for storage then plump up for bedtime.
I usually wrap a towel or jumper around it to stop it from moving about.
Tried putting pillows inside my sleeping bag but they usually end up down my back.

But if I was going off for several weeks / months, I wouldn't bother with such bulk. I'd take an inflatable pillow - got one of these some months ago but yet to use it:
