They put the barriers up about 5pm, or they always used to. It's from then that they charge you. Should be fine for your arrival time.

Hi I live in Poole
You will be fine to meet up on the Quay
They won’t have closed the quay off to cars that early but there is plenty of free bike parking on the quay so you will be okay to meet there and it’s only over the bridge to the ferry port
There are plenty of places for a coffee and snack on the quay one of my favourites is Oriels http://www.orielpoole.co.uk/ or if your after something cheaper there’s a wetherspoons next-door to it and there are some good old Fish and Chip places there as well
Have a safe trip Bob

It doesn't really get busy until around 6pm..before that it's quiet.
It's a very short ride to the ferry..of the bridge is not up that is...even then it's only a short wait. But it's sad to say that Poo,e in nice weather is more a case of ...look at how big my wallet is...than chatting about bikes. There will be loads of GSAs..not many GSs though and not much else that can go off-road.
I saw you today Tramp...you were just about to join countess roundabout on the A 303..alas I was in a car.

As you go along the Quay there is official bike parking on the right hand side almost opposite the pub on the left. You can park here at anytime. After 5.30pm you will have to pay a pound to get along there but if you're already there, you'll be fine.
