I thought about water carriers too, find it as easy to get mineral water when you hit the camp site. I have one that folds flat, like a concertina but I don't often bring it.

Speaking of water carriers, if you decide to get one then wash it out thoroughly after using a Milton tablet or similar in otherwise the water will taste foul..

I know this

Hope you enjoy/ed your first bike camping trip, I won't comment on your kit you have the basics covered. Just remember what worked, what didn't, what you had but didn't need and what you needed but didn't have.

I also found it helps to store it with top off. So get one you can attach with a string.....

Handy for confined spaces and small tents
Is this for the essential or luxury list??
I'll have you know I'm a laydee and don't do such things :P

We could always start one  - I joke.

Thanks (thumbs)

Unfortunately I didn't set out yesterday - it's pretty windy here so didnt want to chance it. I'm all packed and ready - so will see how the weather fairs at the back end of next week and weekend.
Are we there yet?

Has anyone mentioned a water carrier? It didn't have to be anything fancy, my daughter bought me a folding one from Poundland which works fine.

I got this same one last week, its 10 litre folds flat - saw a 5 litre one in another store but it was actually bigger when folded down. Its a great buy.

Many of them are, but most manufacturers make a half arsed attempt at it and worn as a jacket the inner looks like some ill fitting piece of junk you picked up in a pound shop. The only nice one Ive seen that you'd want to walk into a pub wearing, was an Alpinestars gore-tex 3 piece and the gore-tex drop liner is quite a nice, but lightweight and probably not that warm, gore-tex jacket. That suit is £600 though...

You mean like an ordinary 2/3in1 raincoat with a removable fleece?
Not a bad idea, if it could be made so the jacket armour stayed put in the right place

I went to Applecross nasty planned. The wind around Glasgow was horrendous. Blown across all 3 lanes of the motorway.

Fort William also very windy. The pass of the cattle plain scary.

Shame you didn't get away mate, but I don't blame you. Very hardcore weather.
