Nope. I reckon it's too many people confusing the internet with real life and I'm as bad as the rest. Who the hell expects blind dates to work? in the last 3/fou r years ive met and ridden with dozens of people off this forum
...had dozens of ridouts ....weekend meets andin some instances have traveled with them abroad
...and am about to do travel and trail abroad again with different people from this forum B)
always had a good time never had a harsh word and have had shared some great expieriances with other people and always had a good laugh while doing it
tommorrow there are 18 of us in the lakes ..ive met probably 7 or 8 of the guys before .....and look forward to metting the rest and doing some riding and beer drinking together
purely down to abr ....
like minded folk meeting up and going for aride over the weekend in some of the best trails the uk has to offer B) (thumbs)

I Like it here so will be staying on I ,As others have said there are forums that are not as good as this one It can't be that bad as the ride outs seem to be well attended and the rallies look like eveyone has a good time.

I also use another forum centred around K100/K75/K1100 but not exclusively so. Just over 3,000 members world wide, every country represented. Some like adventure, some like touring, some like café racers, some like sidecars, most have other bikes as well so there is a great diversity.
A lot of technical know how is shared, parts swapped at times, a great spirit and everyone is very helpful. From time to time a few of us meet up, no pressure, a breakfast and a run, occasional camping trip and a lot of sharing of photos and stories as well as maintenance and technical stuff.
Nice routes, nice ideas for touring and tips on travel are also shared. Even better, invites to other countries to fellow members. A few of us are heading on one such trip to France in May, meeting up with some French members and also an Australian member who is spending 6 weeks touring in Europe.
There is a good atmosphere in it, everyone respects everyone elses opinion and not too many rules.
To be fair to all, the forum here has the same atmosphere. Some camp trips, some adventure trips, from a few miles to around the world. Trails, adventure, scenic routes, dirt roads, all are represented. They won't be identical but its still nice to have a mix. New bikes, old ones, it doesn't seem to matter what you have one is welcome.
It would be a shame to lose it. What I see, and not being selective, but because its near, is the effort some put in to the weekends, like the one at Newcastle in May which I missed last year because my bike got run into but hope to make this year, the invites up to Kirkby Stephen and more. These outings have the potential to make the forum great. I for one don't care if I go to one of these and find its 10% or 85% adventure or trail bikes, they are in nice places and you only need one other bike along to have a nice outing.
I saw a great sadness that a 16 year old girl was left to die on a roadway, in a place where had she known better was a place she should not have been. We all run the risk of an accident and know that risk is there, for us and for others, but, we don't accept the risk of being left in the roadway. Some of us are parents and it cuts a bit deeper. The real truth is that it could have been any of us left like that and I don't think any of us would wish that on anyone else. It is an emotional issue but it would be wrong of us to let something like that take from the forum. The fact that it did bring up so much emotion is due in no small way to the fact that I don't believe anyone on the forum would have done such a thing. If no one cared there would be no emotion.
There is hopefully a nice calendar of things happening for the summer, important we enjoy them and maybe exchange our thoughts, advices, ideas etc. I have had some excellent bits of very useful information and ideas here, hope I have also passed out a few and would go out of my way for anyone who comes in fresh and looking for ideas or advice, whether they are tripping on a 125 or a 1200.
That's my few words, time to be getting bikes sorted out for the summer.

Going south I can only echo what Minkyhead has put into word's a lot better than I can
You only get out of a forum what you put in if you don't like other people having there own ideas don't get involved with there threads, if you don't like bmw or anything, it's up to you, and if no one was there to knock something it would never get interesting
Any way I like it here and don't give a S4it who leaves or who comes into the forum it's a good site maybe a bit slow sometimes but WTF it's free

I only passed my test 6 weeks ago and today I went into Cheltenham on my bike (XT660z) which is only 18 miles from where I live (Broadway). It was raining, the roads in my humble opinion were very slippery and when I arrived at Cheltenham Triumph I was so chuffed and felt as though I had been on a massive "ride out"!!! Life is for living how I decide to live it.... I just hope I get to meet some friendly folk on here that might want to meet up for ride outs or whatever.
