new bike delivered, so out for the first spin to adventure bike rider HQ,
F800 GS VS 1200 Adventure, first thoughts.
1. Anti dive forks are awesome on the 1200
2. balance of the 1200 at speed is terrific,
3. adjustable suspension is like a Rolls Royce and i love the button adjustment
4. Vibration and torque recoil are noticable and will need getting used too
5. F 800 felt taller and is smoother at low revs
6. 90 mph, open face helmet, Big adventure screen s terrific already
7. All functionality is familiar across both bikes
Overall
I do 95% road work so for me i have already satisfied myself after only 15 mins on the 1200, i will miss the economy of the 800 i expect, however i filled the GSA up and the range read 400 miles, which is nice.
Have you owned or riden both bikes, if so what are your thoughts on them head to head?
GS adventure for 15 minutes how does it compare
Re:GS adventure for 15 minutes how does it compare
As my brother found out, Don't rely on the fuel gauge, one second reads 400 the next 50.
The bike has been back to supplier to sort it our but nothing changed.
Everyone seems to say the same thing .... go off the trip meter it's safer.

My fuel gauge works well. When I fill the bike up it says 400 but then settles down to 340ish and according to the mileage it goes down. When it says 10, I look for a petrol station.

I think you have bought the right bike for you, personally I prefer the 800 but you've been there done that. Hopefully you have familiarized yourself with the bits that are known to let it down. What are you bolting onto it first? B)
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.
