Any good motorbike books on Denmark, Norway and Sweden??

Post by sexysi »

Just looking at options for trips in 2015, and would like to do these 3 countries, but need to read up about them, any ideas of any good books and vids, you know places to go and see etc.

Just looked at ferry prices for next year in June 1 x adult and 1 x motorcycle return £100!!! damn that is cheap.

Wheres that too?
Doing Norway/Sweden myself next summer, been looking at the ferries to Denmark. They are £100 for me and the bike return, but you have to add on a cabin each way (as its an overnight crossing) which is about £170 X2 so total cost is nearly £500 return.
Worked out to ride to Denmark is an extra 500 miles on the journey each way.

The ferries to Denmark work out pretty expensive when you factor in the cabin plus food & drink are a lot more than cross Channel ferries and they're not exactly cheap! They also sail quite early in the evening so you end up using valuable annual leave the day you sail just getting to Harwich

It depends where you live but for me it's a lot easier to get the later crossing to the Hook of Holland, bomb up through Germany to Denmark then cross over into Sweden. I worked it out that I'd be at the same point in Denmark about 2 hours later doing it that way rather than getting the direct crossing.

That's a good point, I've been looking at the Holland ferry too, that's looking the best bet for me and pretty good value.

If you are using the land bridge from Denmark into Swedan, be aware of the Toll Bridge rates. Bike and rider was about £30

Just got back from Norway and Sweden, sailed from Hull to Rotterdam for £250 return. Ferry from Hirtshals in Denmark, 70 euros one way to Larvik. On the way home I rode down through Sweden 22 euros to cross the bridge into Denmark.
A good book for the north of Norway is The Arctic Highway by John Douglas.

A stunningly beautiful country but start saving now!
