Never bought into this genre rubbish they done it with music now we have people trying to slot us in genres on bikes.
Been a biker 32 years had some adventures Christ it was an adventure just riding 100 miles when I started never knew if you would arrive at destination :laugh:
im a biker every time I ride my mood lifts and the grin comes out that's good enough for me.

Done it a few times solo without panniers and that was bad enough hmy: but did once enjoy passing a Mclaren F1 stuck in the queue, must have been worth a 100 times the price of my bike :laugh:

Its all a bit like that thing 'Who's on first base/' from the film Rain man. The whole question of 'what an Adventure Bike Rider is/' can never be answered in 1 answer as at it has so many different answers to different people.

If you ride what is now called an Adventure Bike then you are, by definition an Adventure Bike Rider. This clearly does not mean however that you are riding on an adventure every time you saddle up. Some (most?) people ride them as they are a fashionable, comfortable way to get from A to B that might possibly make your daily commute feel a bit more exciting.

Some people (and I agree to a point) say that every time you get on your bike, any bike that it is an adventure, some people ride what is definitely not 'seen' as an Adventure bike (R1, c90 etc) and do huge trips through remote lands. Some of those people go on to make a 'song n dance' about their trip, many don't.

For years people have been riding off on bikes into the unknown, map in hand, camping gear strapped on the back. If that's what you call ABRing, great, if on the other hand its popping to your local tea bar to show off your latest farkles and getting a spot of mud on your tyres, great. Whatever floats your boat. But one thing for sure is that no one can give a simple answer to what ABRing is or who is an ABRer.

Here is another question. If anyone were to ever reach the grand status of being an Adventure Bike Rider can they ever be stripped of their medal?

I've done 'a big trip' and own 2 adventure motorcycles but have recently attended the HUBB and Zen meetings in my Ford Fiesta. I have also not swung my leg over either of my trusty steeds in over a month. Gulp hmy:

I don't know, I had a MK 1 Fiesta, and that was a adventure every time it went out, and sometimes not making it back..
