We pay our money and take our choice.

Been using soft luggage for years.BUT took the plunge on Alu boxes a couple of weeks ago.

Im a Pillock should have done it years ago so much less agro

Have a look at Hepco and Becker.

I have the panniers and they are very strong, they also pop back out if you dent them.

Also a great idea with the water between the outer and inner skins and tap. I have just come back from the Lymington meet and never once refilled the pair. I used them all weekend and got home on Sunday and still had to empty them.











Each side takes approx 3.5 litres of water/ Red or White wine.

Had a quick tally up and with the frames and taps, they come in at a cool £650.32 inc vat.

Mine were on a 955i, but sold the bike, sold the 955i frames for £100 and kept the panniers. When i bought my 800xc, just got a frame to fit that and they went straight on.

They also lock to the frames, with a decent lock and have 2 editional locks on the panniers to stop people knicking stuff.

Have a good look before you get Metal ones!

Thanks for throwing a spanner in the works just I'd begun to make my mind up. Had a quick look at these and like the look of them. There's a quite a few options including metal boxes.

I'll have a proper look at these tonight then try to make my mind up again!

Sorry, just wanted to throw a spanner in the works, I think the water carrying capacity idea is cool.

Coming back from Lymington on Sunday, very hot. Stopped on the side of the road got my cup out turned the tap on and had a drink. No need to carry water containers.

Another use is to fill up a bowl of water for your beers like here.



Just gives you more options to look at, you can find the Gobi's on ebay sometimes, but very rare. You can get carrying straps, liners etc etc. for them as well. Also the pannier frames have a quick release system on them, which my old ones didn't. All you need is a large alan key, You turn the bolt once and they release.

Spoke to a guy at the South Coast meet who had a set on his KTM, he said they were excellent in the desert, as you could carry that much more water.

You should consult with Mr Lovell on here about his new Fug-It panniers, saw them at the weekend in Lymington and I can testify for their quality. Very similar to Ard Cases.

They do look very similar to the Ardcase panniers.

Does any one know if the lids on the Ardcase panniers can lift up leaving one latch fastened to act as a hinge or do the lids need to be completely removed to access the pannier?

The lid on the ard cases is not hinged, there is a lock on both ends, if you use a large topbox it may get in the way of hinged lids. If you want it hinged ask Roger and see what he can do.

The lids don't have a hinge but if you had the time you fit one, I'm wondering :whistle: if you got in touch with roger at Ardcases and asked about hinges, he might do it for you if they're really important to you.

Hi i have Stahlkoffer boxes they don't leak are well made and powder coated as standatd

if a little on the heavy side or well made depends on your point of view nothing protrudes on the inside so can't damage contents. The reason they don't have hinges is if you dent hinged lids they may not open afterwards also if you've got luggage strapped on top you can lift the lid without having to unstrap the gear on top. Great service 2
