I began with a 640 Adv, I do a fair bit of overland travel, Morocco, Spain, Anndorra etc. After 4 yrs I wanted a replacement but KTM let us all down by not following up with a small Adv, so I went to speak to Rally Raid. They produce a purpose built bike to your your specs, it is expensive but everything has been thoroughly tested and does as it says on the tin. The 690 Adv by RR is a fast, light, economical circa 60 mpg, and easy bike to ride. It can be fitted with RR's excellent pannier racks which will carry the GL bags with ease. In this config the bike will go anywhere. Perhaps one thing to watch for the 690 Enduro R is in original config inherently light at the front, when loaded it will wheely easily. I have compensated by fitting the v useful front fuel tanks which takes the bike's endurance to around 250 miles on semi piste conditions. Its a joy to ride. It is no slouch as a few 1200 cc type others have noted.

I wish I was. I just found RR easy to work with; spent considerable money so fast, but the result was v good.

If anyone has a mecasystem front fairing and / or the low fender I could reproduce the shape in carbon/epoxy if several of you want one for 690's. Then either leave it natural or have it professionally sprayed.
