i dont know about the hg jacket but most textle suits have the goretex in the inside lining so they wet out eventuallySleepy wrote:OK.. what does a £1000 jacket do that my £279 Hein Gericke Cruise GTX jacket doesn't?
Bought in 2007, done about 35,000 miles in it, early this year did a days ride in cold torrential rain, I remained completely dry and warm.
Hasn't needed any repairs/treatment..
Last month spent three weeks in Spain, temp. up in the 30's.. lining out, vents open, stayed reasonably comfortable..(whilst on the move..hmy: )
Lots of millionaires on this forum by the sound of it..

Re: rukka
IMHO I think everyone would buy rukka / klim / linstrands if it was financially possible, I was in touratech whilst at the wales rally, a suit I looked at (only looking) was worth more than my bike, kit and tent job lot. But if I was achieveing everything I wanted to do ie travelling on a bike of my choice whenever I could, and the budget still allowed me to go down that road I wouldnt hesitate for a moment, and I think if the truth was told so would most people. Just my twopence worth

I don't think Lindstrands/Halvarssons/Jofama (same company) are in the same price league as Rukka or Klim - people just assume they are because they're Scandinavian. DYOR.
The most staggeringly expensive is the Campanero stuff sold by Touratech.
TBH for the price of Rukka/Klim/Campanero I'd want it not only to keep me warm and dry, but to make me a cuppa and tuck me in at night.

Rukka has my vote, I did have problems with a jacket fadeing, it was replaced with a new jacket, after 18mts and 20,000 miles. This jacket had problems with the waterproof zip, it kept splitting open. I was lent another Rukka jacket while they replaced the zip. helmet city in Dorset delt with all this for me, they were fantastic !
The new Zip has not given any problems, It is expensive, It is the best, the warranty is the best. Why buy second best !!
