Hi,
Longer navigation events are difficult as we are restricted as to where we can go in the Forestry Land and the route has to be submitted and approved.
If the events are harder nagivation events people get lost and then they go all over the place and the Forestry doesn't like this idea.
So routes are marked and predefined in the main.

Re: So who wants to do a rally? (big bike rally challenge)
I have f800GS Im booked to do Hafen and Cambrian after only having bike for 4-5 weeks...I have TKC 80s fitted, not that impressed with them off road and not 100% sure they are suitable enough for these 2 events...may need to get something a bit more aggressive...biggest problem will be if its muddy...
I would prefer fast fire trails...but if the bike can do the course I'm sure I can too...
This is a test/trial for next sessions BBRC when I'd like to be more competitive...

It's Burt from the BBRC here. I would look at getting a more agressive front tyre.
The TKC's are fantastic on fireroads but in the mud they "float' over the surface. So an FIM enduro tyre would be better (Even a secondhand one !! ) It will also give you more confidence when you go through the Hafren Forest section.

Re: So who wants to do a rally? (big bike rally challenge)
Thanks...good to know...I was more concerned with the back tyre being rubbish...
I like the look of michaelmy's recommendation for the Mitas C02s what would you recommend?
Whats does FIM mean?

The FIM is the global governing body for motorcycle sport - it sits above the ACUKKat wrote:Thanks...good to know...I was more concerned with the back tyre being rubbish...

(Sorry can't remember what FIM stands for, but they set the standards and we have to obey)
Tyres are all horses for courses - I like Metzler Six Day tyres but they are expensive.
Any tyre that has an aggressive tread pattern for mud will be OK if you are just doing the event to get round and finish

KKat
Not a huge amount of mud at the Hafren and less at the Cambrian (all weather dependent of course) so you will most probably get round on TKCs (I'm sure many people have) but as has been said you might wamt to try something better.
Biggest problem is finding a 150/70 x 17 tyre
Mitas E07 is 80% off road 20% on @ £89 (Michaelmy runs one on his 990)
Mitas E10 is 60% off road 40% on also @ £89
CO2 is good in mud but a very hard tyre and very tall blocks so feels quite sketchy on the fire roads but is only available in 130/80 in a 17"
Although a skinnier back tyre is not too much of a problem, I was running on the "standard" CCM tyres when we went out the other weekend, a Pirelli MT21 in 140/80 but on my "race wheels" I run a 120/90 C02 or 120/80 Maxxis Cross Enduro without any problems.

This was going to be part of the BBRC Adventure Rally - I was down there yesterday it was very easy going terrain.
Moly and I will open the course on both days and be around in the car park for advice and banter.
