not sure about this shutting a lane down lark. the north circular at hanger lane grinds to a stop ie total grid-lock if they close a lane for some reason.
i work behind the stadium on the way up to ikea and they are concernd about staff getting to work. i use the bike so no problems but one tech has to come from way over the other side of london (canvey island) so he no chance of getting to work and will no doubt be losing money
the others have been asked if they can use the bus - some can but if the buses are using the same roads ie not the 'special lane' then they'll not be any better off!

ah - should ride a bike

magicroundabout wrote:OLYMPIC chiefs have been blasted for inviting 485 foreigners to carry the torch across the UK — as Brits miss out. On some legs, 20 PER CENT of runners are from overseas — despite us bearing much of the Games’ cost.

Carriers have been flown in from Europe as well as the US, China, South Korea, Australia, Kenya, Nigeria and Brazil.

MP Tom Brake hit out after only THREE of the 23 runners carrying the torch through Sutton, Greater London — in his constituency — were from the borough.

Four were foreigners. The Lib Dem said: “It is astonishing that after UK taxpayers have contributed so much, so few local people have been rewarded with the chance to bear the torch.”

On May 20 in Devon, 18 of the 93 torchbearers were French.

When the flame is in the North East next week, 17 of the 88 volunteers will be foreign.
You're getting quite upset by the whole Olympics thing aren't you? The closer it gets the more I'm starting to look forward to your rants rather than the actual games which isn't what i expected.

Anyway, I'm only guessing here but it might be that some of those foreigners come from towns twinned with ones in the areas the torch has been carried through. The town I live in wastes massive amounts of money entertaining dignitaries from other towns for no good reason whereas the Olympics might give a couple of people some entertainment.

For me the inclusion of Beckham in the English football team sums the whole thing up,done to please sponsors, raise money and delight the chattering class s[the likes of Blair,Cameron] nothing at all to do with the Olympic ideal.

Olympics? Load of Barry White! Totally not interested. It's all about big corporate money and sod all else.

I work in transport related gubbins in that London, so have got no chance of any leave over the summer. Not only that, I have to commute into central London every bloody day while all this is going on.

Let's not forget the paralympics too. No leave until September. Yay! :(

been trying to move people's shifts around so i can ensure i have some staff to cover the building. i've found the offical sites to be totally geared towards 'travel to the games' not very little on 'getting people to work during the games'

but i did find this below that gives a day by day map of where the jams are likely to be.
