i tought when the rev-counter was keeping tine with that it might still be a problem with the alternator A/C current so i unpluged it and jumped the bike from the van battery using the vans alternator as a charge system, but the same thing happened. So it is definitely not the alternator or the R/R. I am thinking that i must have a bad earth but i checked everything and can't find it, keep in touch lads if you think of anything.

bull. lets see if can help solve your mystery. First lets take it that everyone knows their job and the alternator and R/R are fine. It could be a bad ground but the harness and wires have also been checked out. At first i thought it might be a crossover from a bad switch but this is unlikley also. Something is causing the wrong signel to be put through the system causing the rev counter and one coil to be effected. also the lights cause the rev counter to work a little. This does look seem like a bad ground but as a bad ground cant be found it must be something else. It could be a bad ground or grounding wire coming from the pick up coil but this would affect all the coils and not only one an that rules that out. The coils and rev counter get their power from the igniter also the igniter has a return ground, so the problem must be with the diodes or motherboard inside the igniter and it will have to be replaced.

If the diode melts that would allow current through the pick up circuit.
Hang on let me read your post again...
yes no yes.
Yes the return ground on the igniter could/might hold enough amp to manipulate the rev counter
Ahh shit Ive got myself bloody confused///

thanks mr injector, they told me the same thing in the shop, that it was the ignitor and i did not want to believe them. i am not going to replace it as the bike has cost too much as it is, thanks again.

The return ground has become a positive switch to ground because "a" diode has failed and allowing the negative return feed switch to short.................
If the return feed ( neg) got switched to (poz) due to diode then that fed the rev counter, all be it in milliamp,
1, would it have enough amp to pick up the rev coil ?
2, The return neutral feed if switched would blow a fuse ?
Or a fixed loop until switched ? Like you say not one but two diodes...I just cant see the amps working..
Motherboard going .US. Thats better than what I came up with....like that.Thats a possibility..but that way above my pay grade
