Carrying Dogs on bikes
Re: Carrying Dogs on bikes
You need to decide whether to secure the dog and in case of accident it stays with the bike or is thrown free.

Re: Carrying Dogs on bikes
ok i love all the fotos but as the law goes it depends on how the individual copper interprits it...
i used to have my old border collie (scooby rip)tri colour full ped working dog on my zxr750 she started of in my pocket of my combat jacket i used for work, then progressed to down jacket as she grew, then onto the tank.i used to have a lumberjack shirt strapped to the tank so she didnt scratch the paint and she loved it. when you got above 60 she would drop her head behind the screen and even lean for corners.
as to more of your question if the dog is a good dog and doesnt move around ie trying to jump/get off the bike. then securing the dog in different ways seems to be used from a multi point harness to a dog box on the back...like i said above depends on which copper pulls you over... i had several arguments over the years and as long as the dog cannot interfere with your riding to make it unsafe this is ok. my mate has a box on the back of his gs12 for his fully grown boxerdog (i know the irony of it but he just doesnt see it i fell about laffing)
so if your dog is safe you can...as far as i know
as for scooby she was never a fan of my katanas or my gixer she was a kawasaki/ktm/honda dog through and through... when i used the quad and she was rounding up sheep she hated being on the back she always sneeked up front was quite funny really and longest trip was 135miles with her on the tank after about forty she curled up and went to sleep ... dunno what that says about my riding lol
hope this helps j :woohoo:

Re: Carrying Dogs on bikes
thank you for the proper ans i think i'll try the back box idea as its more comfy for the dog and its not going to interfere with the coppers brain lol thats a joke in itself

Better get him her some of these http://www.scruffmacduff.co.uk/doggles. ... tAodFi5tWQ
On a very much serious note
On a ride with the BTBC a guy came and brought his dog with him we all thought it quite a novelty till it jumped ship and broke its legs
There was nearly a lynching and however novel or nice cute etc. there is probably more responsiblity needed than with even a small child
Good luck and ride safe - both of yer
PS I made this for a pal to tow his Alsation
He also used it to fetch a Landcruiser gearbox from Dublin

Read a story in the paper a while back about a guy that had done about 13,000 miles with his dog in a tank bag and when she wanted to stop for a wee she used to rest a paw on his arm
Saw a couple in Norwich the other week with a terrier in a tank bag and he looked very pleased with himself.
