There are, they charge a fortune. You can hire a car locally that is specc'd for the ring but dunno about bikes. The overriding thing with a bike is that it will be your own bike and will be down to your own insurance. This is always the crux of it. It is very easy to turn up and have a good steady safe lap without issue, maybe 98% do that, the other 2% have issues/an off etc.
I just strongly advocate a grown up, eyes wide open approach to the place. The closing speeds of some of the fast track cars are phenominal...like 100mph difference. Get it wrong and....
But Go! The area, the people, the atmosphere are unlike anything else on the planet, brilliant place
Quickie trip to The Nurburgring

Welcome B)
Lots of good advice.
I went last year as our first stop on a Euro trip.
Its a fantastic place.
A petrol heads dream
We still had all our camping gear loaded when we did our lap

We stayed here http://www.burgstube.com/
Brilliant place. Carbon discs and turbos for window decoration

The Burgstube is a great place to stay, Martin and Heidi who run it can't do enough for you. My best ever lap was in Heidi's old Vauxhall Nova, (Model = circa 1989, 1.2) 4 up and in the pouring rain. Slowed to about walking pace up Hohe Acht.
Timing is stupid in any case but we'd have need a calender rather than a stopwatch !!
Oh, and when you stayed, was there a Yank called Mike Solo hanging about ? A (now ex) USAF guy who owns the Pug 205 that is now living in the US and is the only one of its type in the whole US of A.
The kids once counted 28 nationalities of cars in the ring car park at one time from as far afield as USA, Russia, Finland, Saudi etc. Amazing
